Our Work Health & Safety team is part of the People & Performance division and is dedicated to delivering high quality health and safety services, workers compensation, and wellbeing programs. We support both field based and corporate employees, fostering a strong safety culture and a holistic approach to wellbeing across the entire organisation.
About the Role:
As the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager at the City of Salisbury, you will be responsible for leading and continuously improving our strategic safety activities. You'll lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality services in Health, Safety and Wellbeing, injury management and return-to-work management with a strategic approach. This is your opportunity to ensure our people are equipped with the systems, knowledge, and capability to drive an integrated Health, Safety and Wellbeing ethos for the City of Salisbury, whilst keeping the organisation compliant with relevant legislation, codes, and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and drive an integrated Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategy for the City of Salisbury.
- Provide strong, consistent leadership to the relevant stakeholders and Health, Safety and Wellbeing team to support and drive a safety first led culture.
- Drive a performance-focused culture through coaching, systems, feedback and structured performance management.
- Ensure thorough investigation and reporting of notifiable incidents to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and provide statutory HSW data to Senior Leadership and external bodies.
- Lead and support the coordination of LGRS Risk Evaluation and LGAWCS Procedure Validation Audits.
- Develop action plans from audit outcomes in collaboration with stakeholders and Executive.
- Facilitate monthly monitoring meetings with LGRS and manage completion of action items.
- Create and manage systems that drive consistent high-quality WHS operational outputs, including risk assessments, committee engagement and toolbox training.
- Lead the WHS team to deliver proactive return-to-work, injury management, and income protection programs.
To be successful within this role, you will possess:
- A minimum of five years' experience within a Senior Health, Safety and or Wellbeing role.
- A people centric approach with a desire to be a part of a People Team delivering organisation change at scale is required.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and align teams toward shared goals, demonstrating an organisational approach always.
- Ability to promote and influence a positive safety culture across all levels of the organisation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WHS and Return to Work legislation, and Performance Standards for self-insurers.
- Strong background in incident investigation and analysis, with proven accident prevention outcomes.
- High-level negotiation and conflict resolution skills to achieve collaborative solutions.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships and produce high-quality reports.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a relevant field are essential.
