Works Supervisor

About the position

The Works Supervisor leads a works team in the professional, diligent performance of duties associated with the construction, maintenance and repair of Council's infrastructure to a best practice standard, and assists the Works Coordinator to coordinate resources in a proactive, cost effective and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead and support works staff to ensure timely completion of daily and monthly programs, whilst overseeing the completion and submission of staff timesheets
• Provide on-call support, coordinating staff, plant and materials in emergency situations
• Ensure WHS procedures, inductions, and risk assessments are followed and documented
• Report incidents and assist with investigations and safety improvements
• Assist with quality and environmental processes, including required documentation
• Assist with preparing quotations, including calculating material and resource needs

About you

• Certificate IV in Local Government Operational Works (or working towards) with relevant workplace experience.
• Previous work experience in the implementation and review of Risk Assessments and Safe Work Method Statements for road maintenance and construction activities.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret civil engineering drawings.
• WorkCover OH&S General Induction for Construction Work.
• Demonstrated basic competence in computer operations including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Current class C Driver Licence.
• 'Prepare a work zone' Traffic Management Plan Certificate
