About us
The Population and Public Health Division co-ordinates the strategic direction, planning, monitoring and performance of population health services across the State. The Division responds to the public health aspects of major incidents or disasters in NSW, monitors health, identifies trends and evaluates the impact of health services. The Division is responsible for improving health through measures that prevent disease and injury. Population health services aim to create social and physical environments that promote health and provide people with accessible information to encourage healthier choices.
This role will be located in St Leonards.

We are seeking a dynamic individual with strong leadership, communication and regulatory skills to fill this newly created executive leadership role.
A motivated and inspirational leader, you will establish an effective Centre to manage a complex operational environment, shape the culture of a new and expanding team within the Population and Public Health Division, while delivering on the Government's objectives.

About this role
The Executive Director, Regulation and Enforcement leads the response for statewide tobacco and e-cigarette compliance and enforcement and related activities across NSW. The Centre also supports Service NSW in the effective implementation of the tobacco licensing scheme and the tobacco information line.
The Executive Director, Regulation and Enforcement's responsibilities include implementing legislative and regulatory requirements to inform operational policy decision making processes and the development, implementation and evaluation of enforcement initiatives to optimise alignment with the Government's strategic objectives.
The role provides strategic regulation and compliance advice to relevant Ministers, the Secretary of NSW Health and the Chief Health Officer & Deputy Secretary, Population and Public Health.
This is a Term (up to two years), full time, Band 2, Public Service Senior Executive (PSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $297,738 - $335,157 per annum (SOORT 2025), with annual performance reviews, will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

About you
We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with:
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the national and state health systems and relevant policy developments including tobacco and e-cigarette initiatives and programs.
- Demonstrated senior executive management experience in a large and complex organisation, as well as proven management experience in policy, legislation and regulation development, implementation, evaluation and review, and program management from design to evaluation.
- Demonstrated skills and experience applying policy and legislation in an enforcement environment and highly developed program management skills to ensure the effective coordination of program objectives and reporting requirements across a large, complex organisation.
