About the Opportunity:

As the Manager Recovery, New and Tail Claims you will take the lead on both the strategic oversight and the hands on operational management for all work related injury notifications, as well as long duration and complex workers compensation claims.

Your leadership and experience in managing legislative compliance will ensure NSW Ambulance meets its notification obligations. You will play a pivotal role in guiding recovery, redeployment and claim resolution outcomes – particularly for claims that often involve psychosocial, workplace or medical complexities.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to:

  • Provide sound technical and expert guidance in the management of complex long term claims, with a strong focus on ensuring a durable resolution.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with our Claim Service Provider, Medical and Treatment Providers and Rehabilitation Providers to support effective outcomes.
  • Innovate and lead on establishing and implementing a program to support our injured workers with vocational redeployment.

About You:

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated significant experience managing complex and long-tail workers compensation claims, preferably within a large complex organisation, public sector or regulated environment.
  • A strong understanding of NSW workers compensation legislation (including exempt and non-exempt) and evidence-based recovery at work principles.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to support, develop, and manage a team in a fast paced and high-volume work environment.
  • Significant experience and understanding of best practice in managing complex psychological injuries and vocational rehabilitation to achieve optimal claims outcomes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication, problem solving and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to successfully build relationships within internal and external stakeholders.
  • A teamwork and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrated experience in utilising data to drive evidence-based decision making
