The primary purpose of the Secretariat is to coordinate and support South Australia's representatives on national and state-based committees and meetings; and coordinate key priorities of the Strategic Policy and Legislative Services Team.

Responsibilities

The Secretariat holds a position of trust and supports the Regulator and Committee members to build strong working relationships across Australia in order to identify any emerging issues or risks. As the successful applicant, you will lead secretarial support for the Chairs of the South Australian Asbestos Action Plan Strategic their members including the preparation of high-level and timely documentation, forward planning and monitoring key priorities.

In this role you will identify, research, develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures and protocols to ensure the successful coordination of the South Australian representative's participation at national meetings. You will have proven experience managing high volumes of work and meeting tight deadlines.

Technical Expertise - Essential

Demonstrated experience in providing secretariat services, to national boards or committees.

Demonstrated ability to manage high volumes of work and meet tight deadlines whilst retaining objectivity and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive material.

Excellent verbal written and writing skills with proven research, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to work with limited direction and exercise initiative and judgement and significant level of decision making in identifying and resolving complex and sensitive issues in a time critical environment.

Well-developed experience in establishing, maintaining, and reviewing work practices, systems and procedures to enhance service delivery.

Well-developed knowledge of the protocols and practices required to support senior executives and relevant public sector administrative policies and procedures.

Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.

Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and political environment to achieve successful outcomes with minimal direction.

Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team or small unit and contribute to a spirit of team cooperation.

An awareness of the relevant legislation, policies and procedures, including Code of Ethics, EEO and cultural inclusion.

An understanding of the legislative requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.

An awareness of and ability to work to the spirit and principles of AS/NZS ISO 31000 Risk Management.

Technical Expertise - Desirable

Knowledge of the State/Federal work health and safety and industrial relations laws and systems.

Knowledge of the structures, decision making and administrative processes and culture of government and the public sector.

Knowledge of the objectives, roles and responsibilities of SafeWork SA and AGD, including an understanding of the role of key stakeholders in policy development.

General understanding of the practical application of policies, procedures and legislation in the work environment.
