A respected organisation in the industrial services sector is seeking a Purchasing Officer to support procurement operations across inventory, equipment, and services. Based in Brisbane, this is a temporary contract role through to December, with the potential for permanency. An immediate start is required. The successful candidate must be available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, with a hybrid work arrangement available.

Your new role

As Purchasing Officer, you'll be responsible for managing purchases across operations and corporate functions, including inventory, equipment parts, consumables, and subcontracted services. You'll liaise with suppliers, maintain procurement records, and support financial accuracy and compliance across purchasing activities Your key responsibilities include:
  • Performing purchases across operational and corporate areas
  • Managing inventory and direct charge items including equipment parts and consumables
  • Liaising with suppliers to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Maintaining contractor documentation and insurance records
  • Investigating and resolving purchase order and invoice issues
  • Conducting vendor and cost analysis and evaluating quotes
  • Supporting procurement system processes and reporting on KPIs
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement policies, audit requirements and safety regulations

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • Ideally, experience in inventory or parts purchasing
  • Experience with ERP systems focused on inventory and procurement
  • Knowledge of parts related to heavy equipment maintenance
  • Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
