Confidential engagement providing offshore debt collection services to a financial institution. The role involves managing collections operations, coordinating with offshore teams, and ensuring compliance within the Australian financial services industry.

Role Description

The
Collections Manager
will coordinate offshore banking and debt recovery operations, ensure process compliance, deliver training, and manage all Australian locations. Strong leadership, deep understanding of the Australian banking and debt recovery process, and adherence to legislation are key.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead debt recovery operations and coordinate with offshore teams via phone and email.
  • Develop and implement debt recovery strategies aligned with legal frameworks.
  • Monitor overdue accounts and initiate appropriate recovery actions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Commercial Agents and Private Inquiry Agents Act 2004 (NSW) and other state regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting for audits and reviews.
  • Deliver training programs across Australian locations.
  • Act as the primary contact for operational issues in debt recovery.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • FNS30420 Certificate III in Mercantile Agents (mandatory).
  • Competencies in debt collection, legal recovery, locating individuals, serving legal process, and managing hardship cases.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in finance or banking collections.
  • Strong leadership, team management, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian credit laws and financial regulations.

Challenges / Considerations

  • Mercantile Agents Certificate is mandatory; candidates without it must apply immediately.
  • Training responsibilities across multiple Australian locations.
  • Close coordination with offshore teams requires strong communication and organizational skills.
