Advanced Analytics Manager, Digital Fraud & Scams

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Manager in Advanced Analytics to lead our efforts in both fraud and scam prevention. This role is pivotal in managing key stakeholders and portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Proactively Identifying Trends: Be at the forefront of detecting and combating emerging patterns in both fraud and scams, ensuring our customers and assets are protected.

  • Innovative Rule Development: Analyse fraud and scam activities to craft new rules that prevent similar incidents, staying one step ahead of perpetrators.

  • Optimising Detection Systems: Maintain and enhance our detection rule suite, supporting the Group Security Fraud & Scams Response Center with effective alert management and minimising false positives.

  • Driving Continuous Improvement: Seek out and implement opportunities to enhance our processes, driving efficiency and excellence.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Perform comprehensive data analysis to inform and support critical business decisions, ensuring we stay ahead in the fight against fraud and scams.

Your responsibilities:

  • Innovating Detection Systems: Continuously improve detection system rules to ensure maximum detection of both fraud and scams while keeping false positives and detection alert volumes low.

  • Enhancing Customer Experience: Ensure detection system rules do not negatively impact customer experience.

  • Uncovering Insights: Provide valuable insights into trends and anomalies through root cause analysis.

  • Building Relationships: Foster effective working relationships with stakeholders to drive collaborative success.

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to solve problems creatively and think analytically.

  • Understanding Fraudster and Scammer Behaviour: Insight into the psychology of fraudsters and scammers to improve detection rules.

  • Programming Knowledge: Proficiency in programming - SQL, Python, SAS preferred.

  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Ability to suggest and implement practical actions to address emerging trends with tangible outcomes.

  • Collaborative Spirit: Ability to work effectively within the analytics community and with stakeholders.

  • Educational Background: A degree in a quantitative discipline such as advanced analytics, mathematics, statistics, computing, science, engineering, or actuarial studies.

  • Nice to Have: Experience with Snowflake, SageMaker (AWS), Jupyter Notebook, VS Code, advanced analytics and data modelling.
