Synergie Australia is seeking a Business Support Officer (AO3/1) for a State Government Department based in Cairns.

The important parts:

Hours: Monday to Friday, 36.25 hrs/weekPayrate: $50.37/hr Start: ASAP – contract to October 2025 with potential for extension

What you will be required to do:

You will provide high-level administrative and business support to ensure effective service delivery and smooth operations across the department.Act as a central contact for regional staff, providing quality information across finance, records, and administration.Deliver a high standard of customer service including managing escalated queries with professionalism, negotiation, and dispute resolution.Prepare, monitor, and maintain reports while coordinating reporting and workflow management.Provide administrative support to senior leaders, including the Regional Director, ensuring correspondence and documentation are accurate and timely.Support the preparation and quality assurance of briefing notes, executive correspondence, and ministerial responses.

To be successful in the role you will:

Have recent experience with Excel and other reporting tools.Bring previous State Government experience in similar administrative or business support roles.Demonstrate strong skills in communication, time management, and problem solving.Be able to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.Hold full working rights in Australia.Have reliable transport to and from work.Demonstrate a positive and proactive approach to workplace safety.
