About the opportunity:
The Leader of Formation and Mission (K–12) is responsible to the Principal and shares in the leadership of the school community and contributes to the achievement of the College's mission and student learning outcomes. In addition, you will:
- Support the Principal Leader of the College and collaborate as part of the College Executive to implement the strategic direction and goals of the College.
- Provide particular strategic direction in the implementation of the whole school Mission / Formation goal using data.
- Oversee and support all Formation & Mission domains: Religious Education (K–12, including Stage 6 Studies of Religion), Liturgy, Catechesis, Social Justice, Student Leadership, Faith In Action Team (FIAT), Staff Formation, and Parent Formation.
- Supervise and mentor Formation Middle Leaders across these domains.
- Lead Mission, Formation and Outreach opportunities for students and staff both locally and globally.
- Oversee and coordinate liturgical and formation life of the College including Whole-College Masses, sacramental opportunities, retreats, pilgrimages, immersions, ministry evenings and House liturgies.
- Develop Catholic aesthetics throughout the College
- Collaborate with clergy, CSPD, and wider Church networks to ensure alignment with diocesan priorities and sacramental life.
- Other duties as requested by the Principal and the Executive Director.
About you (selection criteria):
- A deep personal commitment to the Catholic faith in practice and lifestyle, with the capacity to witness, model, and lead a school community that gives authentic expression to Catholic teaching and the system's mission.
- A minimum of four years professional qualification in education, with current expertise in Religious Education pedagogy and curriculum, and accreditation to teach Religious Education (with completion of or commitment to a Master's in Religious Education/Theology within four years of appointment).
- An understanding of contemporary learning theory and practice, and the ability to ensure this is evident across teaching and formation in the College.
- Proven leadership in planning and executing whole-school formation and liturgical events.
- Demonstrated capacity to build Catholic identity across all dimensions of school life: curriculum, wellbeing, leadership, aesthetics, and culture.
- Experience in managing teams and mentoring middle leaders, fostering a collaborative formation culture.
- Experience using data to inform planning, formation goals, and mission initiatives.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with staff, families, clergy, and system leaders.
Qualifications and Accreditations required:
- Master of Religious Education/Theology or commitment to complete within four years of appointment
Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with ChildrenCheck clearance
Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
- Tertiary Qualification (minimum 4-year degree)
