Your part in our Wesley Hospital team  

The Wesley Hospital is a large 6 level private facility offering comprehensive medical and surgical services, including cardiothoracic surgery, obstetrics, paediatrics, and advanced haematology and oncology.

As a Medical Officer you will support safe patient care 24/7 by working with Visiting Medical Practitioners (VMPs) to conduct patient rounds, urgent reviews, emergency responses, and facilitate care as directed. You will play a key role in hospital safety culture as part of a multidisciplinary team with other Medical Officers, Clinical Nurses, and Nurse Managers.

This role reports to the Lead Medical Officer, who reports to the Director of Medical Services (DMS) and will undertake their role and responsibilities as directed by the DMS.

You will be an experienced Medical Practitioner with a demonstrated passion for delivering person-centred care through living our values and through exceptional communication. In alignment with our values, you have a commitment to ongoing professional development and will present with:

  • Current & Unrestricted general registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA

  • Must hold a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years full time post Graduate experience

  • Evidence of broad experience in acute and high dependency settings (i.e. PGY 4 and above)

  • Full working rights in Australia (no sponsorship opportunities available)

  • Current ALS and PALS certifications

  • Recent relevant acute care experience and confidence in managing complex patients

  • Understanding of National Safety and Quality in Health care standards

  • Workplace Health and Safety Act and infection control procedures

  • Availability to work all rotating shifts including AM, PM and nights

  • Willingness to obtain required vaccinations in line with hospitals infection control requirements
