Some of Brimbanks key attractions include its state-of-the-art performance space – the 'Bowery Theatre' in St Albans; and the worldclass 'Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre' which features a 24-hour gym, waterslides, and heated Olympic sized swimming pools, along with a six green star rating for its innovative and sustainable design.
Brimbank is continuously growing, with many transformational infrastructure projects about to break ground. A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Permanent staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.
The role
Reporting to the Strategic Planning Coordinators, we are seeking an experience Strategic Planner who can bring their skills and experience for the preparation of strategic land use and development studies and strategies, the preparation and processing of major planning scheme amendments, and stakeholder engagement, that is reflective of Council's objectives for the planning of the municipality
To be considered you will have:
- Local government experience (desirable)
- Ability to work in accordance with our values and behaviours
- Relevant qualifications in urban planning, or a related discipline together with substantial relevant experience in the management of major projects.
- An advanced understanding of the Victorian planning system, substantial experience in administering planning related legislation and regulations, an ability to prepare and implement strategic plans and policies, and draft statutory planning provisions.
- Well-developed conceptual and analytic skills, research and data analysis skills, and a capacity to identify and develop solutions to strategic planning issues.
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-level advice about strategic planning matters at a senior level.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills and an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Commitment to excellence in customer service, building working relationships and to managing stakeholder relations.
- Well-developed interpersonal and problem solving skills and the ability to negotiate and mediate between parties.
- Well-developed project management skills, experience in cross-organisational and multi-disciplinary teams, an ability to manage a range of issues simultaneously, and to determine resource requirements.
