Position Information

Broke Public School is located in the Upper Hunter, approximately 22km from Singleton. It services the township of Broke and outlying properties and is a focal point of the community. The school has a current enrolment of 30 K-6 students comprising 2 multistage classes with 15 identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

Broke Public School is currently classified as a TP2 school. There is 1 permanent full-time teaching principal, 2 permanent teachers, 1 permanent part-time School Administration Manager (SAM) and 1 permanent part-time General Assistant (GA). A number of temporary teachers support staffing within the school. The school has one school-funded School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs), supporting a number of students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  1. Demonstrated experience and skills in fostering a cohesive team environment among staff and strategically engaging with the broader educational community to collaboratively maximise student learning outcomes.

  2. Demonstrated capacity to inspire, empower and work effectively with all key stakeholders to continue to embed a culture of high expectations for student and community wellbeing.

  3. Demonstrated understanding of the system priorities and the ability to align school initiatives accordingly while effectively leading improvement and innovation.

  4. Exemplary classroom practitioner who has skills and capability to coach and mentor other staff around effective classroom practice while managing the dual role of Teaching Principal.

General Selection Criteria
  1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

  2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

  3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

  4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

  5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

  6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2025 and Teaching Principal Level TP2 for 2026.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
