About the job

We are seeking a technically strong risk and assurance professional to support the delivery of our Health and Safety strategy, someone who can lead critical risk workshops, conduct audits, and provide trusted advice across the business.

This position plays a key role in embedding our critical risk program and supporting both health and safety initiatives and broader people-related compliance matters. You will work collaboratively across operational and corporate teams to codesign, monitor and report against our Assurance and Compliance Plan and Register.

About the Person

The ideal candidate has strong skills in the effective facilitation of risk workshops and experienced in guiding diverse stakeholder groups, ranging from senior leaders to frontline teams, through complex assurance activities.

They bring proven capability in WHS audits and assurance procedures and are skilled at identifying where business areas are not meeting compliance expectations. With a proactive, pragmatic mindset, they contribute to improvement by shaping clear actions, strengthening controls, and building risk maturity across the business.

About People and Safety

The People and Safety group are focused on ensuring workforce well-being and success through strategies such as talent attraction, diversity, and collaboration, while also prioritising health and safety efforts to prevent harm and promote overall well-being and career development.

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.

You will:

  • Lead risk workshops and stakeholder engagement across a range of business functions.
  • Monitor and report against the Assurance and Compliance Register.
  • Support the design and implementation of the WHS assurance program.
  • Conduct and oversee critical risk control verification audits.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance matters, including ISO Standards.
  • Contribute to broader people risk and assurance activities, including those in People Operations and Culture & Capability.

Your success in this role will come from:

  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety risk management principles and Safety Management systems.
  • WHS Systems Audit Qualification or equivalent exposure and experience.
  • Minimum Cert IV qualification in WHS or equivalent exposure and experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the interpretation and application of WHS legal obligations.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment is desirable.
  • Understanding of people operations, culture, and capability processes is desirable.
  • Working knowledge in the practical application of ISO Standard 45001.
