**Key Relationships**

The Head of Risk, Safety and Compliance reports to the Director of
Business Operations and works closely with the School Leadership
Team to facilitate risk and WHS being appropriately managed and
there being a comprehensive and current policy and compliance
framework.

The Head of Risk, Safety and Compliance also has management
responsibility for the Health Centre and is a member of the School's
Senior Management Group.

**_Position Objective: _**
The Risk, Safety and Compliance Manager will work closely with the School Leadership team to oversee
the balanced management of risk, student and staff safety and delivery of a comprehensive compliance
framework.

They will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of risk mitigation and they will ensure
that policies and procedures remain up to date and compliant, including the School's Work Health and
Safety (WHS) program, Risk Framework and the School's policies and procedures.

This role is also responsible for ensuring risks are proactively managed in accordance with the risk policy
and framework and the School's compliance obligations (regulatory, legal, and operational) are met.

**_Key Responsibilities: _**

**1. Risk Management**
- Oversee the School's Risk Management Framework in conjunction with the Director of Business

Operations and School Leadership Team to ensure risks are identified, understood and effective
management strategies are implemented.
- Maintain and keep updated the Risk Register and continuously monitor risk action plans.
- Liaise with and assist the Head of ICT with the update and implementation of Disaster Recovery

and Critical Incident plans and performing critical incident simulations with the Senior
Management Group and School Leadership Team.
- In collaboration with the Deputy Principal and Head of Preparatory School, plan and coordinate

emergency evacuations and lock down drills.
- Track activity and follow up with task owners (as required) supporting the implementation of

agreed controls (resulting from risk assessments).
- Develop risk control plans as required for new risks, or to address gaps and changed

circumstances for currently identified risks.
- Manage the process for elevating potential risks to the Director of Business Operations to ensure

early warning of possible problems that may arise.
- Where appropriate, liaise with external authorities on issues related to risk management.
- Manage and oversee the insurance requirements of the School to balance required coverage

with the risk environment. Liaise with relevant staff to insure staff and students are adequately
covered for school trips and excursions.
**2. Policy and Compliance Management**
- Assist in preparing compliance reporting (including status updates, progress of planned

initiatives, papers for approval, items for attention, etc.).
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of papers for the Council and sub-committees as

required.
- Be aware of legal and regulatory changes that affect the School and ensure policies and

procedures are developed and reviewed to comply.
- Coordinate communications to inform and guide staff on new or changing compliance issues.
- Provide accurate and timely advice on risk management and compliance obligations to the

Leadership and Management Teams of the School, as required.
- Ensure that all active School policies and procedures are available to relevant stakeholders on

the School Intranet by liaising with all policy owners with regard to: providing templates and
guidance to policy owners regarding format, content, version management and approval of
policies, up loading approved policies to the policy platform, keeping a register of review dates
and prompting policy owners to review policies according to the register.
- Coordinate the policy review process, including maintaining the School's Policy Register,

governance and compliance documentation.
**3. Work, Health and Safety**
- Maintain, identify and implement improvements to the School's WHS framework.
- Assist staff to complete risk Assessments in relation to excursions, camps and School events.
- Ensure the excursion/ camp/ Overseas trips risk management framework, relevant policies and

procedures are compliant.
- Advise the WHS Committee and ensure they are trained and able to fulfil their
