An exciting opportunity exists for a WHS Risk, Compliance and Assurance Advisor to join a South Australian organisation on a contract basis. This role will be pivotal in shaping and maintaining risk management, assurance, and compliance frameworks to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

Role Overview:

The WHS Risk, Compliance and Assurance Advisor will be responsible for maintaining the WHS Risk Register, supporting the Critical Risk Program, and ensuring compliance with legislative and organisational requirements. You will work closely with leaders, risk teams, and delivery planners to design and monitor assurance programs, conduct verifications, and report on risk performance. The role also supports broader people, risk, and compliance activities across the organisation, helping to build robust frameworks that safeguard both employees and the business.

About the Person:

You are an experienced safety and risk professional with proven capability in establishing auditing and assurance programs, identifying and assessing risks, and embedding compliance frameworks. You are confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels, able to translate complex requirements into practical outcomes, and thrive in an environment that requires both detail and big-picture thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the WHS Risk Register and support the development of business-level risk registers
  • Design, monitor, and improve the Critical Risk Program, including reporting and verification activities
  • Collaborate with leaders to develop and deliver the WHS Assurance Program, including spot checks and aggregated reporting
  • Ensure compliance with WHS obligations, including monitoring emerging legislation and overseeing compliance programs
  • Lead and support assessments against ISO standards and manage licences and registrations
  • Work closely with Enterprise Risk to prepare WHS risk profile information for governance forums
  • Provide broader support to People and Culture functions on risk, assurance, and compliance matters, including diversity, equity, and inclusion requirements
  • Assist with the design and control of key WHS documentation

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in establishing or managing auditing and assurance programs
  • Strong understanding of WHS risk management and compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and improve risk and safety programs
  • Experience in legislative compliance and knowledge of ISO standards
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and partner across the organisation
  • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively
