The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Compliance Manager to join our Melbourne-based team on a full-time basis. This pivotal role is responsible for managing compliance and risk frameworks across the Institute, ensuring we meet and exceed all regulatory and governance requirements.
Working closely with the CEO and Executive Management Team, you will lead compliance operations, foster a culture of quality and accountability, and drive initiatives that enhance program delivery and institutional performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance systems, frameworks, and processes to ensure adherence to all legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Lead and coordinate accreditation, audit, and review activities to maintain ongoing compliance.
- Provide expert advice and regular updates to the Board, senior management, and staff on compliance matters and regulatory changes.
- Represent Ozford in dealings with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders.
- Oversee governance activities, ensuring policies, systems, and processes remain current and effective.
- Support the development and approval of new programs in line with regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement by analysing student and stakeholder feedback and implementing quality enhancement initiatives.
- Plan and deliver professional development activities to embed compliance best practices across the organisation.
Key Performance Indicators
- Demonstrated ongoing compliance with all regulatory, reporting, and governance obligations.
- Timely and accurate communication of compliance matters to the Board and senior management.
- Effective management of relationships with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders.
- Successful implementation of agreed improvement strategies.
- Timely support for new product/program development and implementation.
- Measurable improvements in quality assurance and operational efficiency.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
- Proven management experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong commitment to professional integrity, ethical standards, and continuous improvement.
- High-level organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of governance and compliance frameworks within Australian higher education (domestic and international).
- Advanced IT skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of data and reporting requirements for quality assurance.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Professional presentation and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Desirable:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar compliance leadership role within the higher education sector.
- Familiarity with multiple educational sectors.
Qualifications
A relevant degree in Business, Education, or a related discipline (postgraduate qualifications highly regarded).
