We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Leading Hand to take charge of our stormwater and civil infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead by example, grow your leadership skills, and make a real impact on project outcomes while working alongside a supportive crew that values professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

About the Role:

As a Leading Hand, you'll be the vital link between management and the on-site crew, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly, safely, and on schedule. This role is ideal for a skilled tradesperson who enjoys balancing hands-on work with leadership responsibilities.

You'll be responsible for coordinating site activities, allocating tasks, and ensuring the team has the tools, resources, and guidance they need to succeed. Your leadership will drive productivity, maintain high safety and quality standards, and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.

This role goes beyond supervision; you'll be actively involved in technical tasks, offering expertise and practical support to the team, while also identifying and resolving issues quickly to keep projects moving forward. It's an opportunity to step up as a leader, influence project outcomes, and play a key role in delivering high-quality stormwater and civil infrastructure works.

Key Responsibilities:

· Supervise and motivate a small crew to complete stormwater and civil works

· Plan and coordinate daily activities to meet deadlines and quality targets

· Operate and oversee the safe use of plant and machinery, including excavators

· Conduct toolbox talks and promote a strong safety-first culture

· Liaise with clients, contractors, and supervisors to ensure smooth project delivery

· Assist with technical tasks, including drainage and pipeline installation

· Keep accurate daily records of site activities and progress

Requirements:

· Minimum 3 years' experience as a Leading Hand or Supervisor in civil stormwater construction

· Certificate III in Civil Construction (mandatory)

· Current White Card and Driver's Licence

· Ability to read and interpret plans and technical drawings

· Strong leadership and communication skills, with a practical, problem-solving mindset

· Own reliable transport

Desirable:

· Additional plant or machinery tickets

· GPS technology experience for machinery operation

· HR or MR truck licence

· Proven experience managing subcontractors and external stakeholders

Pay: $38.40 – $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 48 per week

Experience:

• Leading Hand: 3 years (Preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Cert III in Civil Construction (Preferred)
• Full Driver Licence (Preferred)

Work Authorisation:

• Australia (Required)

Willingness to travel:

• 50% (Preferred)
