About The Role
As the
Senior Technical Officer
, you are integral to the success of V/Line's
Assets & Maintenance Group.
Reporting to the
Technical Systems Supervisor
, the
Senior Technical Officer
will be a technical leader within our Infrastructure team, overseeing the reactive and preventative maintenance of signalling equipment, support fault rectification and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

As a senior member of the team, you will also assist the Technical Systems supervisor with leadership and development of the team.

Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Plan and deliver maintenance activities in line with the Technical Maintenance Plan
  • Install, test, and commission signalling and communications equipment
  • Lead fault investigations and prepare root cause analysis reports
  • Conduct safety and quality checks and maintain accurate records
  • Provide on-the-job training and competency assessments for team members
  • Support contractor inductions and depot operations

About You
You are an experienced rail signalling professional with strong technical and leadership skills. You bring a commitment to safety, problem-solving ability, and a collaborative approach.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate IV in Electrical (Rail Signalling) and Diploma of Railway Signalling Systems
  • Minimum 5 years' rail signalling experience post-apprenticeship
  • Assessor skillset and ability to mentor team members
  • Current driver's licence and ability to meet V/Line's safeworking standards
  • Demonstrated alignment with V/Line's values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.
