Job Description

We are seeking a practical, hands-on Sustainability Advisor to implement sustainability initiatives across sites in Eastern and Central Australia. This is a site-focused role that combines on-the-ground execution with project management, planning and delivery of initiatives to reduce our planetary impact through improved management of waste, energy, water and emissions.

Based in Brisbane, the role involves ongoing, hands-on engagement at remote sites, with travel expected weekly. You will support the Sustainability and Decarbonisation Manager in translating strategy into practical action, tracking site performance, and influencing team culture to embed sustainable behaviours and practices, without direct authority over site-based teams.

What you'll do

  • Deliver sustainability initiatives on-site and manage the implementation of projects, ensuring initiatives are planned, executed and tracked effectively.
  • Lead waste minimisation initiatives and ensure accurate food waste tracking, supporting teams to adopt practical, measurable improvements.
  • Promote efficient use of energy and water, and support initiatives to reduce emissions from energy, fuel, food and waste streams.
  • Conduct or support site sustainability audits, including tracking compliance with internal procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Prepare client reports and assist with sustainability monitoring and data collection.
  • Support Indigenous and community-based sustainability initiatives as directed, and contribute to pilot projects, innovation trials, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Actively engage and educate teams to foster a culture of sustainability, helping staff become ambassadors for planetary responsibility.

Success in this role is defined by tangible on-site improvements and the delivery of practical, measurable sustainability outcomes. It will suit someone who enjoys working hands-on in operational environments, collaborating closely with site teams, and seeing real-world results, rather than primarily desk-based or compliance-focused work.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

  • Applicants must have Australian working rights; applications without this will not be considered.
  • A tertiary qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Management, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a sustainability, environmental or hands-on operational role.
  • Experience working in the resources industry or remote environments is highly regarded.
  • An Australian driver's licence is essential.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, with a can-do attitude and persistence to see initiatives through.
  • Able to adapt communication style to different audiences and build strong, collaborative working relationships across teams and sites.
  • Quick thinker, able to make practical decisions on the spot while keeping safety front of mind.
  • Comfortable working hands-on in operational environments and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
  • Genuine passion for planetary sustainability and a drive to deliver practical, measurable impact
