We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HVAC / Underfloor Heating Technician to step into a pivotal role as our Technical Manager. This position offers a clear pathway to grow into a combined Technical Manager and Hydronic Installation Manager role, ensuring continuity and leadership in our installation division.

Role Overview

The Technical Manager role is central to ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Comfort Heat's underfloor heating systems. You will provide technical support for both products and installations, oversee installation quality, and contribute to the design and delivery of heating solutions.

While proven experience in hydronic heating or HVAC is highly valued, we recognise the right candidate may not bring every skill we've listed. We are open to applicants who have strong technical fundamentals, a positive attitude, and the ambition to grow into the role. We will provide structured training and support to help you build expertise across hydronic and electric underfloor heating, with the opportunity to progress into a combined Technical Manager and Hydronic Installation Manager role as part of our long-term succession plan.

This position offers the chance to combine hands-on technical work with system design, quality oversight, and eventually team leadership, making it an excellent opportunity for a motivated technician who wants to step up in their career.

· Act as an escalation point for complex technical enquiries from customers, installers, and internal staff.

· Provide technical support for sales and operations staff.

Installation Oversight & Quality Control

· Conduct installation job reviews of both electric and hydronic projects to ensure installations meet Comfort Heat standards, NCC, and industry best practice.

· Develop and maintain installation manuals, checklists, and technical documentation.

· Review and approve system designs and drawings for compliance and buildability.

· Implement and oversee commissioning procedures for hydronic systems (pressure testing, balancing, control verification).

· Mentor, train, and support installers (both internal staff and subcontractors).

System Design & Development

· Assist in the design, detailing, and documentation of heating systems.

· Select and size components, prepare schematics, and coordinate CAD design for hydronic projects.

· Work with suppliers on product development, upgrades, and technical issues.

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of system design standards and installation processes.

Future Transition – Hydronic Installation Management

As part of succession planning, the role may progressively include:

· Leading the hydronic installation team, including resource scheduling and subcontractor management.

· Coordinating project delivery across residential and commercial jobs, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets are met.

· Reporting on installation outcomes, quality trends, and corrective actions.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

· Proven experience in Hydronic Heating or as a HVAC Service Technician

· Solid knowledge of air conditioning systems including controls, inverter systems.

· Proficient in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical issues

· Strong understanding of refrigeration principles, heat load calculations and system controls.

· Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to work independently.

· Trade qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Electrical, or Plumbing (suitable for NSW Qualified Supervisor Certificate).

· Computer Proficiency (MS Office)

· Valid driver's licence with good driving record.

Desirable:

· Experience supervising technicians or subcontractors.
