Are you passionate about surf lifesaving, youth engagement, and community education? Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is looking for a motivated and community-minded individual to join our North Barrier team as the Membership & Community Awareness Coordinator. This unique dual-purpose role is your opportunity to inspire the next generation of lifesavers and empower communities through safety education.

Based in Townsville and supporting clubs across the North Barrier Region, you'll play a critical role in driving membership recruitment and retention, as well as coordinating community awareness programs. This role will be required to attend branch regional events, carnivals, and committee meetings.

What You'll Do:

  • Plan, deliver, and grow SLSQ's Community Awareness Programs in the North Barrier Region
  • Promote surf safety education to schools, community groups, and the broader public
  • Maintain positive relationships with key regional stakeholders
  • Assist affiliated clubs with the planning and delivery of junior activities and membership initiatives
  • Lead a team of casual Community Awareness Presenters
  • Support recruitment and retention strategies tailored to local club needs
  • Champion SLSQ's mission and programs across the region

About You:

  • Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain)
  • Surf Life Saving membership and proficient Bronze Medallion
  • Knowledge of the range of Surf Life Saving Queensland programs
  • Proven experience in coordinating multi-site programs and training casual team members
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse communities
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • High level of organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
