About the role
In this role, you will be based in our on-shore workshop and carry out scheduled and breakdown maintenance on vessels and other company assets when and as directed by the Maintenance Manager. You will conduct regular inspections and maintenance on vessels and machinery. Clear communication, physical fitness, and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines are paramount in this role. Random drug and alcohol tests are carried out regularly. Ordinary working days are Monday to Friday full-time hours, however, this role may require emergency maintenance to be performed outside of ordinary working hours and the role is required to participate in a weekend duty phone roster.
SeaLink North Queensland operates from Townsville delivering daily ferry passenger services to Magnetic Island and 6 services a week to Palm Island. Our tourism operations include local tours to Cape Cleveland Lighthouse, Orpheus Island, Palm Island, Whale Watching Tours, charters, and ship-to-shore transfers for visiting cruise ships between Airlie Beach and Port Douglas. About You
- Mechanical or electrical experience, with hands-on exposure in the marine industry
- Strong mechanical background; experience with Caterpillar engines is highly regarded
- A strong work ethic and a proactive, "can-do" attitude
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, even under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with internal stakeholders and external contractors
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Flexible with working hours and shift requirements
- Trade qualification is desirable but not essential
