Nursing Unit Manager (NUM)

In this role, you will:

  • Foster a culture of trauma-informed, patient-focused care – Champion practices that prioritise dignity, safety, and empathy, ensuring patients and their families experience care that is respectful, collaborative, and tailored to individual needs.
  • Provide strong and compassionate leadership – Lead by example with integrity and kindness, inspiring your team and creating an environment where staff feel valued, respected, and empowered to deliver their best care.
  • Support and mentor your team – Invest in staff development and wellbeing through coaching, guidance, and encouragement, building strong connections, celebrating achievements, and fostering a culture of teamwork and mutual support.
  • Navigate challenges with resilience and adaptability – Remain calm under pressure in a dynamic healthcare environment, providing stability, clear direction, and confidence to both patients and staff.

About You

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1), with extensive and recent post-registration clinical experience in the relevant specialty and sound knowledge of contemporary nursing and midwifery issues.
  • Proven leadership and management capability, with the ability to coach, support, and inspire a high-performing clinical team.
  • Strong commitment to patient-centred care, clinical governance, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Sound financial acumen, with experience in budget development and monitoring financial performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in driving change, including developing and implementing evidence-based models of care and initiatives that improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
