Deputy Program Lead

The Role

We are seeking a Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) individual keen to make a real impact in the delivery of Innovation Science and Technology (IS&T) Programs. You will have the opportunity to use both your science and technology expertise and your project management knowledge to lead some of the most interesting Programs supporting the Defence of Australia.

As the Deputy Program Leader Joint Cyber, you will work collaboratively with operational and capability stakeholders in Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) and Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), along with Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) capability division teams, to lead the co-design and delivery of high priority defensive cyber operations and cyber security projects and work packages.

In this role, you are responsible for:

• Defining the direction and priority problems for IS&T projects and work packages, through consultation with relevant internal and external stakeholders;
• Coordinating IS&T advice and support for JCG and ASD projects.
• Applying subject matter expertise and working across teams to design IS&T responses to address priority problems, and to define project and work package milestones, resources and risks.
• Monitoring and reporting on; project and work package delivery, risks, governance, communications, budget and benefits realised.
• Identifying and resolving issues that arise to ensure quality IS&T outcomes can be achieved on budget and within specified timeframes.
• Acquiring support for successful delivery of projects and work-packages, (this includes governance, assurance, legal, security, ICT, and safety).
• Identifying and negotiating suitable technology transition pathways to enable stakeholders to realise benefits and to help drive innovation.
• Maintaining and fostering partnerships with clients, academia, and other organisations nationally and internationally.
• The role may require domestic and occasional international travel

We are seeking individuals with strong IS&T leadership skills, relevant science & technology expertise and project management experience to apply.

Space, Intelligence, National Security and Cyber (SINC) Division leads the delivery of innovation, science and technology (IS&T) programs for a wide range of Defence intelligence capabilities.

Space, Intelligence, National Security and Cyber Division is a DSTG Program Division that works with Senior Defence colleagues to determine the most important issues that Defence needs to resolve with S&T - both now and in the future.

• Sound STEM expertise in a discipline relevant to cyber operations or cyber security.
• Sound experience in applying Program Management / Project Management methodologies to manage key deliverables to time and budget.

• Experience in coordinating and delivering large client-focused technical or scientific activities, projects or programs to deliver impactful outcomes.
• Resilience and adaptability, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
