About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Deputy Engineering Manager (Level 3) to support a major capability enhancement program within a secure government environment. This role is pivotal in overseeing engineering activities for a complex communications acquisition project, ensuring technical governance, compliance, and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities across a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ensure capability functional requirements are met throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Manage and maintain the engineering documentation suite.
  • Provide formal engineering advice across multiple contracts.
  • Maintain and update technical risk registers.
  • Supervise and mentor engineering team members, fostering professional development.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to integrate engineering input across all streams.
  • Review and provide feedback on contract deliverables.
  • Organise and facilitate technical workshops.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and engineering governance frameworks.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in broader coordination tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered Professional Engineer status (or ability to attain).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in capability development within government or defence sectors.
  • Strong understanding of acquisition frameworks and engineering governance.
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Experience with ASDEFCON suite and government procurement processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with technical, logistical, and operational requirements in capability delivery.
