Middlemount Coal Pty Ltd is an incorporated joint venture between Yancoal Australia and Peabody PCI Australia.  The mine produces approximately 4 million tonnes of medium-volatile pulverized coal injection (PCI) coal and semi-hard coking coal for the export market.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead our mechanical engineering and maintenance teams across our mine site. This role is responsible for developing and executing engineering strategies that ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance across all fixed plant and mobile equipment assets.

Reporting to the Maintenance & Projects Manager, you will provide technical leadership, oversee project delivery, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that support safe and sustainable operations.

Key Requirements:

· Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers, planners, and maintenance professionals.

· Oversee mechanical design, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvement projects.

· Ensure compliance with statutory engineering standards, mine safety, and environmental regulations.

· Manage budgets, forecasts, and capital expenditure for mechanical assets.

· Provide technical direction on shutdown planning, equipment upgrades, and plant optimisation.

· Collaborate with operations, processing, and HSE teams to drive safety and performance excellence.

· Review and approve mechanical engineering designs, risk assessments, and project documentation.
