Your new role:

The Software Integration Supervisor plays a key leadership role managing and overseeing the integration of complex software subsystems onto defence land vehicle platforms. This role ensures software components developed internally or provided by external vendors are correctly integrated, validated, and verified within mission-critical environments.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of secure, real-time, embedded software systems, defence-specific interface protocols, and compliance with MIL-STD and ISO standards. They will supervise a multidisciplinary team to deliver integrated software that supports mobility, command and control (C2), sensor fusion, survivability, and mission system functionality.

Primary Duties:

  • Lead the software integration efforts for defence land vehicle systems including tactical subsystems, communications stacks, and vehicle management software.
  • Manage a team of software integrators and coordinate with software developers, system architects, and test engineers across the program.
  • Develop and maintain software integration plans, configuration baselines, and interface validation strategies in accordance with project milestones and customer deliverables.
  • Coordinate and oversee integration of software into mission systems, safety-critical subsystems, and vehicle network architectures (e.g., CAN, MIL-STD-1553, Ethernet TSN).
  • Define, document, and manage interface specifications (ICDs), message buses (DDS, CAN, etc.), and middleware interactions.
  • Supervise the development of automated integration test pipelines and maintain CI/CD workflows aligned with secure build environments.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues in embedded platforms, simulation environments, and actual vehicle hardware (HIL/VIL setups).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable defence standards (e.g., DEF(AUST), MIL-STD882, where applicable).
  • Collaborate with cyber assurance teams to validate secure software integration, patching, and software assurance practices.
  • Manage technical risks and contribute to regular reviews (PDR, DDR, TRR) and formal verification activities.
  • Where tasked, act as the owner of a Software deliverable and report on progress against deliverables, proposed activities, risks and issues, and key priorities
  • Perform other duties where required by the supervisor or Software Engineering lead.

About you

As an ideal candidate you will have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional experience in: AS GVA, AS LDM, RTI-DDS, C#/.NET, ASP.NET, WPF, DevExpress, CAN, Containers.
  • Professional experience in software development and integration,
  • Proven experience integration using Python, bash and Shell in Linux and/or RTOSbased systems for embedded vehicle platforms.
  • Strong experience with integration tools such as GitLab, Docker, Ansible, and automated test environments.
  • Understanding of military vehicle system architectures, real-time constraints, and deterministic messaging protocols (e.g., DDS, CAN, Ethernet/IP).
  • Familiarity with configuration and requirement management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, JIRA).
  • Experience with software integration on tracked or wheeled combat vehicles (i.e.., IFV, etc)
  • Exposure to simulation and test environments
  • Knowledge of ASDEFCON contractual frameworks and Defence Capability Lifecycle.
  • Participated in integration labs, test events, and formal qualification phases expected.
  • Familiar with working at secure facilities with access to classified or export-controlled systems.
  • Desirable experience in developing Software running on both Windows and Linux.
  • Desirable experience in developing Software running in a System with strong Security, Safety, and Human Factors Engineering requirements.
  • Desirable experience with systems like BMS-C2, BMS-F, AFATDS, DTCS, and C4ISREW.
  • Experience in leading teams in a defence or high-integrity system context.
