The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior lawyer to join our highly successful Insurance Division on a full-time basis. Based in Brisbane, the successful candidate will enjoy working on high value matters for premium insurer clients in a team that is recognised within the industry for delivering high quality advice and outstanding service to clients across a diverse range of sectors including:

  • Public liability - Personal Injury & Property
  • Product liability
  • Indemnity
  • CTP; and
  • Catastrophic claims.

The key purpose in this role will be to offer a broad range of personal injury and general insurance services to a wide network of clients. You will be required to have a demonstrated and sound knowledge of the industry, with the ability to run matters through to completion. And, as a senior member of the team, you will be experienced in, and comfortable leading and mentoring junior lawyers.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current Queensland practising certificate
  • Minimum 5 years' post admission experience in general insurance matters, including liability claims
  • Defendant insurance experience is essential
  • Experience in personal injury proceedings in Queensland
  • A passion for and experience in mentoring and supervising junior lawyers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with experts in multiple fields
  • High degree of initiative, dedication and organisation ability with a strong client and commercial focus
  • A commercial approach and ability to articulate and negotiate effectively; and
  • A strong, plain language communication style.
