DevOps Engineer
who's not here to play infrastructure bingo.

What's the story?

foundU is a scale-up success story based in Brisbane - helping businesses manage the full employee lifecycle through one connected platform (recruitment, rostering, payroll, compliance... the lot). They've got thousands of customers, a huge surface area across HR, Ops, and Finance - and big ambitions to match.

They were recently acquired by
Citation Group
, a UK-based global compliance and HR tech player - which means more fuel in the tank, deeper capability, and an even stronger growth trajectory.

Now? They're doubling down on platform maturity. And you'll be the one leading the DevOps charge.

What you'll be doing:

  • Optimising AWS
    : Finding inefficiencies, shutting down zombies, trimming waste - day one cost savings are very real here.
  • Infrastructure as Code
    : Build and maintain infra using Terraform, CDK (TypeScript), and Buildkite.
  • Platform Ownership
    : EC2, ECS (Docker), and all the surrounding AWS services - you'll work across it all.
  • Scaling Smarts
    : Help the team plan for scale without complexity. Simplify where it counts.
  • Security + Resilience
    : Get stuck into a security audit. Improve incident response, monitoring, and general system hardening.
  • Roadmapping
    : Contribute to infra decisions, make smart calls, and challenge the status quo (nicely).

The environment:

  • AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, CloudFront, GuardDuty, RDS, Lambda)
  • CDK (TypeScript), Terraform, Buildkite
  • Bitbucket + Git
  • A whole bunch of managed AWS services (because why reinvent the wheel?)
  • No Kubernetes. And they'd like to keep it that way... unless you can really change their mind.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, or infra roles with real AWS breadth
  • Experience in small-to-mid sized teams (where you've actually owned things)
  • You've worked on systems big enough to have real complexity (think ~$30K+ USD/month AWS bills)
  • You get the cost-performance tradeoff, and you've got real-world wins to prove it
  • Comfortable leading change, but happy to do the doing
  • Bonus points if you've done security audits or worked in high-growth SaaS
