Senior DevOps Engineer

About the role

Skymesh is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team in Brisbane. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a crucial role in driving our cloud-based infrastructure and automation initiatives, ensuring the seamless delivery and reliable operation of our cutting-edge telecommunications services.

What you'll be doing

• System Administration: Design, test and build highly resilient and dependable Linux based infrastructure solutions. Monitor, manage & report on system health, performance and security.

• Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions.

• CI/CD: Build pipelines using various technologies to support development activities in automating build, test and deployment processes.

• Cloud & Containers: Work with on-premises infrastructure and cloud providers to provision and manage resources. Orchestrate containerised workloads using Kubernetes or similar tools while optimising resource utilisation and scaling.

• Monitoring & Logging: Manage and maintain monitoring tools and recovery automation. Assure log analysis for performance and security detections (SIEM).

• Security and Compliance: Maintain security hardening, manage and resolve vulnerabilities through detection & patching, manage secrets and sensitive data securely. Manage IPS/IDS. Assist in the performance of third-party penetration testing and implementing remediation actions.

• Database Operations: Maintain and optimise non-cloud Postgres database systems, including backups, high availability (HA), tuning, upgrades, and restoration testing.

• Network-Integrated Systems: Administer systems supporting AAA (Radius), DHCPv4/v6, Netflow/IPFIX, and CGNAT logging.

• Backup & Recovery: Manage system, database, and container backups, optimise retention strategies, and periodically test disaster recovery.

• Documentation & Diagrams: Maintain clear documentation and system topology diagrams.

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and automation
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Bash)
• Experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and their orchestration and management
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, load balancing, and DNS
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment
• Excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A telecommunications background is highly advantageous
• Must hold Australian work rights or valid work visa to be eligible for this position
