We partner with local landholders, local, state, and federal governments, private investors, schools, universities and catchment care groups in the Burnett, Mary, Noosa, and Sunshine Coast regions. Through our Community, Conservation and Restoration activities, together we are transforming our local landscape.

About the Role

The Human Resources (HR) Advisor will play an influential and rewarding role in driving initiatives to support NDLG's operational and strategic goals, while contributing to a positive work environment.

Key responsibilities will be to support the implementation of the Citation HR platform to ensure alignment of NDLG's existing HR policies and procedures and providing ongoing professional HR/IR advice for a team of up to 70 employees in liaison with Citation HR advisors. You will collaborate closely with the leadership team in shaping and delivering the organisation's HR strategy and direction, driving talent management and employee engagement, and supporting the professional development of employees across the organisation.

The HR Advisor will work closely with the General Manager, Citation's advice team, and internal stakeholders to deliver a successful rollout, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and ease of use across the organization.

The position will be responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of all HR activities, incorporating human resources policy, industrial relations, talent management, workers compensation and employee benefits, professional training and development, performance management, and succession planning.

You will support NDLG values, culture statement, and workplace regulations, demonstrating a commitment to ethical behaviour, accountability, integrity and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the Citation platform, including uploading data, system testing, and assisting staff with adoption.
  • Audit and cross-check existing HR policies and procedures against Citation templates and compliance requirements.
  • Liaise with Citation's external advisors for HR and IR queries, and provide clear, practical advice to managers as needed.
  • Assist with general HR administration required for the implementation, including document updates and process improvements.
  • Report on project progress to the General Manager and contribute to smooth project delivery.
  • Provide expert advice, coaching, case management, and support on all HR and industrial relations matters, including workplace policies, grievances, disciplinary matters, investigations, termination, anti-discrimination, equity and diversity, and conflict resolution (with Citation's advice team as point of escalation where required).
  • Ensure HR operations, policies and procedures are tailored to the needs of he organisation, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process, including job advertisements, reviewing, updating, and creating role descriptions, assisting with candidate interviews and offer negotiations.
  • Manage, coordinate, and facilitate employee induction/onboarding, career pathways, training and development programs and individual plans, performance planning, succession planning, and exit/off-boarding management.
  • Ability to codesign organisation-wide workforce development activities and processes, including identifying talent gaps, and preparing strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing employees.
  • Ensure the training and development programs and workforce planning activities have regard to any relevant obligations or requirements under existing training programs such as Skilling Queenslanders for Work Programs (SQW), and/or other project-related training needs.
  • Implement programs to support employee engagement and foster a high-performance culture.
  • Monitor employee health and well-being, developing and implementing initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Ensure wages, Awards and Agreement interpretation meet required regulations.
  • Manage the HR information systems and provide regular reporting and HR metrics as required.
  • Stay informed about trends and developments in HR and industrial relations and adjust HR strategies and policies accordingly.
  • Advise on any Work Health and Safety regulation updates as required.
  • Attend NDLG Management Committee and Executive Management Team meetings for HR related briefings and reporting, as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Qualifications:

  • Qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or relevant discipline and / or demonstrated combination of relevant experience and training.
  • A proven track record of success in a similar role, with 3+ years of experience
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement HR initiatives that align with business objectives.
  • Experience in HR advisory or coordination roles, ideally with exposure to HR digital platforms/systems.
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver within project timeframes.
  • Confident using digital tools and platforms.
  • Practical knowledge of HR/IR compliance in Australia (with ability to escalate issues to Citation).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and in handling data and reports, with experience in HRIS and/or learning management systems highly regarded.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects on time and on budget.

Hours

This is a permanent part-time role, 2-3 days per week (negotiable).

Flexible working arrangements available, with preference for the first 3 months to be office-based.

Salary

$80,000 pa pro rata + superannuation
