Senior Report Writer
Help shape the future of Australia's Mining and Automotive workforce.
Turn evidence into influence, and insight into impact.
About the Role
In this newly created role, as the Senior Report Writer, you will be connecting intelligence to influence.
Working within the Workforce Planning & Policy team, you'll turn research, workforce intelligence, evaluation findings and labour market data into clear, compelling, and actionable insights that inform national policy, support industry decision-making, and demonstrate the real-world impact of AUSMASA's work.
You'll take complex, messy, and sometimes incomplete evidence, and shape it into narrative clarity that tells a strategic story:
- What is changing?
- Why does it matter?
- What needs to happen next?
Your work will be used by industry leaders, government agencies, training bodies, major employers and unions to guide decisions that shape the national workforce pipeline.
This is a Fixed-Term contract until June 2028
The role can be based out of either Melbourne or Perth.
What You'll Be Doing
- Translate research, workforce analysis, consultation insights and evaluation data into engaging and policy-relevant written outputs
- Develop impact reports, policy briefs and submissions
- Lead the work on interpreting and framing insights while collaborating with analysts and researchers
- Highlight real workforce stories and case studies that demonstrate value and outcomes
- Tailor content for multiple audiences, including government, industry, training providers, and regional stakeholders
- Provide editorial leadership across the team, helping elevate clarity, structure and accessibility in written work
Who You Are
You are a natural translator of complexity.
You instinctively see patterns in data and know how to explain them.
You bring:
- Experience synthesising research or data into strategic written outputs
- A track record producing policy briefs, evaluation summaries, reports, submissions or thought leadership
- Strong analytical ability, you can interpret, compare, question and connect information
- A gift for clear writing that influences decision-makers, not just informs them
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and a collaborative working style
- A disciplined attention to detail, paired with the ability to step back and see the story
Even better if you also have:
- Experience in vocational education, training, labour markets, or workforce development
- Research experience in Mining, Automotive, or adjacent sectors
- Familiarity with evaluation frameworks or performance reporting
- Confidence working alongside researchers, analysts, or economists
Why Join AUSMASA
At AUSMASA, you'll be part of a collaborative, purpose-driven organisation shaping Australia's future workforce. We offer:
- A supportive, flexible hybrid work environment
- Meaningful, high-impact work with industry and government partners
- Professional development and genuine career growth opportunities
- A commitment to diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing
We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage you to reach out if you require adjustments or additional support during the recruitment process.
