About the role:
This is a high-impact leadership role that sits at the heart of SSCT's operational safety and risk management framework. You will be responsible for designing and delivering security strategies that protect our venues, patrons, and staff while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practice.
You'll develop and implement security policies, manage contracted services and coordinate responses to incidents and major events. This role requires collaboration and influence across internal teams and external stakeholders, including law enforcement, emergency services, and sports partners.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead and implement security policies, procedures and risk mitigation strategies
- Oversee venue security operations, including crowd control and access management
- Manage contracted security providers and ensure service quality and compliance
- Coordinate surveillance systems and physical security infrastructure
- Plan and lead responses to security incidents and conduct post-event reviews
- Liaise with external stakeholders on security aspects of event planning and coordination
- Deliver training and awareness programs to build a proactive security culture
- Coordinate with SSCT's infrastructure and facilities personnel on capital projects designed to mitigate security risks
- Contribute to cross-functional safety and risk initiatives
Required skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in venue or organisational security management, with strong knowledge of public safety legislation, emergency management and modern security technologies
- Demonstrated ability to lead incident responses, manage contractors and drive continuous improvement across complex environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, engage stakeholders and build rapport across diverse teams
- A hands-on leader who is willing to roll up their sleeves and actively drive change, while also knowing when to collaborate and seek support.
- Strong operational understanding of the nuts and bolts of security systems, processes, and compliance requirements to ensure effective implementation and risk mitigation.
- Experience in integrating security measures into event planning and delivery, ensuring seamless coordination and alignment with operational objectives.
- Current Victorian Working with Children's Check (Employee)
- Australian working rights
- Valid drivers Licence
