The Opportunity

Are you passionate about emerging technologies and their potential to transform business operations and productivity? Come and influence the technology direction of an iconic Australian business as our Emerging Technology Manager

Supported by a small team, lead the identification, evaluation, and implementation of emerging technology solutions across our Australian businesses, with prominent focus areas including AI and automation amongst other cutting-edge technologies.

We're at an exciting point in our technology journey where we're upskilling our workforce to best leverage emerging technology capabilities. But we recognise there's much more opportunity – you'll help us navigate what we want to achieve with an all-of-business lens.

  • Team leadership: oversee and mentor a small high-performing innovation team dedicated to emerging technology.
  • Emerging tech research & innovation trials: keep aware of emerging trends across all technology domains. Oversee research, evaluation and trial of new technologies including proof-of concepts and pilot projects.
  • Innovation adoption & scaling: develop frameworks and processes to rapidly pilot and scale solutions across the enterprise – including governance to ensure technology is pursued responsibly.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: engage and partner with business unit leaders, product owners, finance, and the Technology Leadership Team to verify emerging tech business application and value.
  • External partnerships: build and maintain relationships with technology vendors, startups, consultancies and research institutions.
  • Digital capability & education: partner with our Organisational Capability team to develop digital education programmes.

Why You'll Like This Role

  • Strategic impact: shape the emerging technology direction for a major Australian company
  • Innovation focus: work with cutting-edge technologies and industry leaders
  • Leadership opportunity: build and lead innovation teams and communities
  • Professional growth: represent the company at industry conferences and forums
  • Subject matter expert: become BlueScope's recognised authority on emerging technologies, guiding strategic decisions across multiple business units
