AOD Intake and Assessment Clinician
- Location: Drug Health Services at Western Health
- Employment Type: Part-Time (72 hours per fortnight)
- Salary: Clinical Nurse Consultant (A-B), Social Worker - Grade 2, Psychologist - Grade 2, or Community Development Worker - Class 2A
About the Role:
Western Health, Drug Health Services (DHS) is currently seeking a suitably experienced and qualified AOD Clinician to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team.
The Intake & Assessment Clinician provides an intake function to Drug Health Services (DHS) Residential Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Programs and conducts Comprehensive AOD Assessments for treatment planning, referrals and linkages into Community AOD Services.
This is an important role within Drug Health Services as the first point of contact, engagement and triage of all clients and their families seeking to access Alcohol and Other Drug Services.
The Clinician will be responsible for the assessment and referral into community residential withdrawal and rehabilitation beds, across DHS, through receipt of referrals from state-wide intake providers as well as from other stakeholders including internal referrals and direct client presentations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and managing external and internal AOD stakeholder referrals, for all programs.
- Undertake comprehensive AOD Assessments and develop clinically appropriate treatment plans, with clear discharge plans.
- Waitlist Management for all residential inpatient units.
- Contribute to skilled case coordination services as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effectively deal with crisis, substance effected individuals, assess individuals at risk and respond appropriately and safely.
About You:
- Qualifications in social work, nursing, psychology or other relevant health discipline.
- Excellent assessment, treatment planning and clinical presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to manage competing priorities within a multidisciplinary team of Allied Health, Nursing and Medical Staff.
- Strong understanding of Harm Minimisation, Relapse Prevention, Overdose Prevention and other evidence-based interventions.
- Current Employee status Working with Children Check.
