POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Manager (for Water Industry Operations, Maintenance and Technologies) drives the identification, design, and delivery of innovative technical solutions for clients in the water industry. This role bridges engineering, technology, and commercial outcomes, ensuring Saltire's suite of technologies (live insertion valves, hot tapping, camera inspection, line stop with bypass solutions) are applied to solve complex client challenges with minimal disruption. The Project Manager works closely with project delivery teams, business development, and clients to scope, evaluate, and implement practical solutions that align with Saltire's vision to Keep the Water Flowing.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Solution Design & Engineering

• Analyse client problems (asset condition, pipeline upgrades, live connections, access constraints) and propose technical solutions using Saltire's technology portfolio.

• Prepare feasibility studies, concept designs, and cost/benefit analyses.

• Translate client requirements into constructible solutions, including method statements and risk management strategies.

• Provide technical input into tenders, proposals, and presentations.

Client Engagement

• Act as a technical partner to clients – able to discuss engineering challenges at both high-level strategy and detailed site-specific levels.

• Present proposed solutions clearly and persuasively, ensuring stakeholders understand benefits and risks.

• Conduct site visits, investigations, and assessments to tailor solutions.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Work with R&D and operations teams to identify opportunities for new applications of existing technology or development of new tools.

• Capture lessons learned from projects and feed into a knowledge register.

• Support Saltire's continuous improvement framework ("Be Useful, Communicate, Innovate").

Commercial & Delivery Support

• Lead estimating in scoping, pricing, and structuring solution proposals.

• Provide technical support during project mobilisation and execution, ensuring solutions are delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification.

• Liaise with suppliers and OEMs to integrate new products into Saltire's offerings.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical desirable), construction management, or a related field. Postgraduate qualifications (MBA or equivalent) are highly regarded.Relevant experience (8+ years desirable) in senior engineer/project management roles, with a track record of successfully operating in commercial roles within the water industry or a closely related engineering, construction, or infrastructure environment.Demonstrated ability to secure and deliver contracts and grow revenueIn-depth understanding of the water sector, including water and wastewater treatment, distribution networks, regulatory compliance, and the unique challenges facing the Australian water industry.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop trusted relationships with clients, government agencies, and industry partners at all levels.Strong analytical, conceptual, and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate market trends into actionable business development plans.Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts related to water infrastructure, treatment technologies, and project delivery methodologies.Strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams and stakeholders.Full clean Driver's license
