About the Role

The Textile Designer will be responsible for creating new print artwork, developing embroidery templates, and ensuring the originality of designs in line with the Creative Director's seasonal concept brief.

Responsibilities

  • Research ideas, source reference material and create new print artwork in line with the Creative Director's seasonal concept brief.
  • Set up artwork repeats and colour separations for Senior Design Directors as required.
  • Develop embroidery artwork and templates for embroidered garments.
  • Present alternate print colour ways to the senior design director's brief.
  • Complete placement print, embroidery and laser cut templates for samples and production.
  • Consider the most economical method to set up artworks per style eg: placement, nested, borders etc.
  • Provide strike off comments via a visual aid on artwork generated for feedback to printers and embroiderers.
  • Ensure artwork development is unique and original by following up with in-house legal counsel prior to strike-off at all stages.
  • Complete final bulk artworks for production purposes working with pattern makers to achieve most efficient yields.
  • Grade placement artworks for all styles from size 0P to size 4.
  • Ensure cutting instructions are kept up-to-date with any changes to artwork between SMS, PPS and Bulk.
  • Create original purpose-built artworks for seasonal collections under direction from Creative Director that are unique and not derivative.
  • Follow through to ensure all correct IP markings are added to artwork files and supporting documents at first strike stage and through to production.
  • Update and maintain Intellectual Property licensing and development documents for internal legal team to refer to.
  • Build sound relationships with all Design Room and Studio team members to enhance a healthy design team culture.
  • Participate in seasonal handover to Production to ensure complex artworks are correctly executed at bulk stage.
  • Responsibly manage time to adhere to the company Critical Path and Design Room calendar across all seasons.

Qualifications

Relevant education in Textile Design or a related field.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of textile design principles.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in fashion design or a similar industry.
  • Knowledge of embroidery techniques and production processes.
