ABOUT THE ROLE:
This is your chance to join the team at the HALF MOON HOTEL in Melbourne VIC as part of Morris Hospitality.
A much-loved local watering hole, set on bustling Church Street, HALF MOON has been pouring beers for Brighton locals since the 1960s. HALF MOON is your home away from home – a place to gather, drink and dine no matter the occasion.
With a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces, a menu of seasonal dishes and refined pub classics made from quality local produce, and an extensive selection of Australian wine, quality gin, and beer, HALF MOON has something for everyone.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented Cook who is capable of preparing food and meals to the highest standards, while driving excellent product, service and team culture.
At all our venues, we are dedicated to ensuring the highest levels of service and the smooth operations of daily duties. As Cook, you will be charged with:
- Assisting Chefs in all aspects of food preparation & production
- Preparing, seasoning & cooking food as per menu & recipe requirements
- Helping with coaching, training & developing of junior kitchen staff
- Using all types of kitchen utensils, cooking equipment & preparation areas
- Setting up work stations with required ingredients & equipment
- Assisting with plate presentation and dressing dishes
- Maintaining WHS standards & ensuring all work stations are hygienic & clean
- Checking the quality of ingredients
- Appropriate storage of all food items
- Assisting with stock control & monitoring stock levels & ordering supplies
Full-Time Salary: $75,000 - $78,000
ABOUT YOU:
To be successful in this role as Cook at Half Moon, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Trade qualifications (Commercial Cookery)
- Experience working in a similar restaurant/hotel venue
- At least 3+ years experience at minimum Cook level
- Experience cooking in a variety of cuisines & food-types
- Experience working across different kitchen sections
- Knowledge of & experience with all standard kitchen cooking equipment
- A commitment to producing excellent product for customers
- Cooperation skills & the ability to work well in a team
- A passion for food & innovation
- Desire to cook delicious food
- Be reliable & driven
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
