About Us
Join us at Cleanaway and contribute to making a sustainable future possible, together.
We transform waste into resources and renewable energy. When you start to think of waste as a resource, it opens a world of possibilities. As a high growth, ASX listed organisation with over 10,000 employees, our goal is to be recognised by our customers as the most innovative and sustainable waste management company with industry leading Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) performance. We are Australia's largest company in this sector, providing essential services to millions of customers and communities nationally.
The Opportunity
The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading the development, deployment, and management of category strategies to deliver sustained value and competitive advantage to Cleanaway and its business units. Responsibilities include:
- Deliver outcomes end-to-end: work closely with operational, functional and commercial stakeholders to design and implement category and sourcing strategies that unlock savings and improves service quality, reliability, and supplier performance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across procurement and the business to identify synergies, accelerate adoption, and challenge the status quo constructively, including engaging senior stakeholders and strategic suppliers to align priorities, remove blockers, and scale improvements.
- Manage supplier value: embed KPIs/SLAs, continuous improvement, and corrective actions; escalate and resolve issues fast.
- Reduce total risk: strengthen supply resilience, HSE compliance, and commercial protections while enabling the business to move faster.
- Capture and report benefits: baseline, track, and communicate value delivered—both hard savings and non-price benefits.
About You
- Structured, independent thinker, able to demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- AI-forward operator already using AI/automation to speed analysis, scenario design, drafting, and supplier intelligence—keen to scale it responsibly.
- Stakeholder & relationship leader who builds trust, adapts to diverse audiences, and sustains collaboration to deliver outcomes.
- Commercially sharp: proficient in analytics and financial principles; comfortable measuring and reporting benefits.
- Methodology fluent: sound knowledge of procurement within a category-management framework.
- Backgrounds we love: current consultants (or similar roles requiring independent, structured problem-solving in ambiguous environments) who can influence senior stakeholders and deliver end-to-end outcomes; procurement/supply-chain pros welcome.
- Experience: ideally 5–7 years relevant experience; we'll also consider exceptional candidates with fewer years who demonstrate very strong structured, critical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking
- Qualifications: Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification in business, finance, engineering, science, or a related field. However, we also highly value demonstrated success and will consider candidates with proven track records, even if formal qualifications are not held.
Why join Cleanaway?
- Hybrid Flexibility: We know flexibility is important, so we have a hybrid model to suit
- Supportive and safe work environment
- Great company benefits: Employee share program, company discounts, salary packaging, flu vaccinations, EAP, discounts on private health insurance and more.
