The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaitsThe National Disability and Insurance Agency (NDIA) are seeking candidates to fill an APS6 Senior Finance Officer Scheme Reporting vacancy in our Financial Reporting and Control Branch, Scheme Reporting team.
The Financial Reporting and Control Branch consists of five teams: Financial Governance and Compliance; Financial Reporting; Finance Projects and Systems; Scheme Reporting and Financial Operations.
The Scheme Reporting Team oversees the performance and position of the Scheme's financial statements and monitors the financial systems these statements rely on. Comprising four specialised teams, our Scheme Reporting team collectively analyse Scheme revenues, expenses, payables, receivables, systems and controls. The team's critical role informs strategic decision-making, safeguards the financial position and ensures accurate financial reporting.
Where you can add valueAs the APS6 Senior Finance Officer Scheme Reporting you will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in very complex problem solving and manage Scheme financial matters and issues.
You will apply your initiative, sound decision-making and judgement, attention to detail and ability to summarise financial information to produce high level advice and operational support.
Working with key internal and external stakeholders where required you will represent and negotiate on behalf of the Branch to advance the NDIA's financial control environment.
Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
- Sourcing, transforming and interpreting data into actionable metrics and insights.
- Producing a suite of reports, interpreting data, and analysing results using standard and complex statistical techniques.
- Managing business and technical reporting including requirements, design, testing, training and rollout.
- Explaining complex financial information and methods for capturing data in simple messaging for key stakeholders with varied levels of data literacy.
- Delivering the Agency's continuous improvement initiative, automating reporting, and using the Agency's data warehouse information.
- Writing various types of documents, such as operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides.

What we're looking for in our ideal candidate:
- Substantial experience working in a finance function, preferably in a Commonwealth, State and Territory or equivalent complex organisation.
- Ability to work across a broad range of activities potentially relating to the work of different program areas.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an attention to detail and focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to take direction, prepare, analyse and test complex financial data and evaluate options.
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain productive working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
- Substantial Excel experience and skills.
- Experience working in SAP or similar finance platform.
- Experience using SAS Enterprise Guide or similar application to extract data from an electronic warehouse.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong, VIC and Richmond, VIC remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
