Our client, JA Baking Pty Ltd, is seeking dedicated and experienced Bakers and Pastrycooks to join the team at Bonfire Bread, a high-performing artisan bakery in Balmain committed to certified organic ingredients, sustainable traceability and premium craftsmanship.

This is a full-time opportunity offering a competitive salary ranging from AUD 70K to 80K per annum plus superannuation, with the final package negotiable based on experience and skill level.

You will be required to do the following duties:

  • Mixing, preparing, weighing and measuring ingredients for the preparation of goods.
  • Decorating pastries using different icings, toppings, etc., ensures the presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
  • Glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, etc. and make appropriate orders within budget for management.
  • Contributing ideas to the menu & having involvement in seasonal pastry menu development.
  • Check the quality of material and the condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Complying with food hygiene and safety requirements.
  • Keep a sanitised and orderly environment in the kitchen.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • Keeping accurate records.
  • Operating a variety of kitchen equipment.
  • Identify staffing needs and help recruit and train personnel
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic work even environment.
  • Plan & prepare the production and schedule.

To be considered for this role, you should:

  • Be willing to relocate if you are interstate or in other cities.
  • Be available on both days at weekends and be able to work split shifts.
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
  • Qualified Baker/ Pastry Chef with 2-3 years of experience
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Very good communication skills.
