About the role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industrial relations leader to make a significant impact across Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD), while contributing to NSW Health's broader strategic workforce objectives.

Employed by WNSWLHD, you will play a critical role in shaping the LHD's industrial relations strategy and culture and will partner with Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) Industrial Relations Team with whom you will work collaboratively sharing resources, expertise and in managing workload.

You will provide high-level counsel to the WNSWLHD Chief Executive, Executive Directors, and senior stakeholders, set the strategic direction of IR strategy, policies and procedures, build capacity and contribute to NSW Health's inter-LHD model of collaboration, showcasing best practice in industrial relations.

About You

We are seeking a collaborative, influential, and strategic leader who can build strong stakeholder relationships and navigate complex industrial relations environments. You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in senior industrial relations or employee relations leadership roles, ideally within a large and complex organisation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, industrial awards, and employment frameworks.
  • Proven success in negotiation, consultation, and dispute resolution with unions and employee representatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence and guide senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a capacity to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
  • A commitment to collaboration, workforce capability building, and driving best practice across the organisation.

Why Join Us

  • Flexible location – work from anywhere in NSW, with occasional travel to WNSWLHD sites and regular co-location in SLHD IR team office in Camperdown NSW.
  • Collaborative partnership with Sydney Local Health District, offering access to specialist expertise, professional support and a team environment.
  • Be part of an innovative inter-LHD collaboration model, driving excellence across NSW Health.
  • Make your mark by shaping industrial relations strategy across one of the largest health districts in NSW.
  • NSW Health salary packaging benefits.
