The IRONMAN Group develop, own and manage mass participation sporting events and is the world's largest running and triathlon events company. The IRONMAN Group in Oceania has a diverse portfolio of events across a range of endurance categories, targeting over 180,000 athletes annually across 23 events.

Working within the IRONMAN Oceania Team, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for assisting with all marketing activity that delivers the participant numbers for their portfolio of Oceania events. The role involves assisting with the implementation of all marketing promotional plans and marketing communication plans across a range of digital and social channels.

The Marketing Coordinator will also assist in implementing a customer centric communications strategy that builds a highly engaged and loyal customer base; and helps develop world class event brands.

Location

  • Located in our modern Melbourne office (South Melbourne) and will be required to travel as part of this role to events and other offices in Oceania.

Events Portfolio

  • Road Running events across Australia and New Zealand

This role is responsible for:

Marketing Communications

  • Assist with the execution of event marketing plans, including promotional plans and destination marketing plans that deliver the targeted entry numbers.
  • Work closely with the Design team to brief in all creative and campaigns.
  • Assist with developing and executing a great content led marketing strategy creating a conversation that's relevant, inspiring, engaging and informative.
  • Assist with managing all relevant media for campaigns, including magazine, print, outdoor media and radio.

Email Marketing

  • Support the Marketing Manager in delivering the CRM strategy for their portfolio of events.
  • Assist in EDM delivery including development of content that's on brand and drives engagement.

Digital Marketing

  • Support with messaging through all relevant social media channels
  • Develop interesting content for digital channels to grow audience and engagement.
  • Assist with tracking and reporting key analytics for all digital marketing activities.
  • Assist with on-site event coverage through all digital channels.

General Marketing

  • Assist the Marketing Manager in executing loyalty initiatives that rewards and recognises our most loyal customers across their portfolio of events.
  • Assist with implementation of all grassroots marketing initiatives that help drive entries.
  • Assists with any ambassador programs and ensure those ambassadors are leveraged to help build the profile of the events.
  • Support the Marketing Manager to execute Athlete Development initiatives.
  • Other ad hoc tasks related to the delivery of the events as required

Skills & Experience Required

  • Tertiary Marketing qualifications, with a minimum of two years' marketing experience
  • Experience in a marketing role with demonstrated digital and social marketing communications including email marketing
  • Strong communications skills, both formal and informal, interpersonal skills and a high level of integrity
  • A high level of computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite and Photoshop and/or InDesign
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management and attention to detail
  • Energetic, personable and able to work co-operatively with other team members
  • Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure and within required deadlines
  • A genuine interest in the latest social media and marketing trends.
  • Experience in mass participation events is preferred but not required - a passion for sport and events is highly desirable.
