About the Role
As a Youth Support Worker, you will provide stable, safe, and nurturing care to children and young people in a residential setting. You will support the children and young people with all aspects of their lives, including their physical, emotional, social, cultural and educational needs. By focusing on positive approaches, you will help the children and young people build on their strengths, develop new skills, and create pathways for personal growth.
Your role will involve:
- Supporting children and young people with their daily routines, such as attendance at school, meals, personal care, medical or therapy appointments.
- Engaging children and young people in active supports by encouraging their involvement in day-to-day tasks, decision-making, and activities that promote independence, skill-building, and personal growth.
- Supporting children and young people to maintain meaningful connections to their family and community.
- Nurturing trust and building positive relationships through open, empathetic communication and consistency.
- Providing guidance through challenges, celebrating progress and helping to build confidence and resilience.
We offer a competitive salary that reflects your skills and experience with access to substantial salary packaging options, opportunities to follow your passions and shape your own career path.
About You
You approach your work with calmness, kindness and empathy, creating an environment where children and young people feel valued and supported. By fostering trust and providing consistent guidance, you empower children and young people to grow, learn, and build confidence in themselves.
This is a 24/7 residential care environment, so you'll need to be flexible and available for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
We are looking for people who have:
- A Certificate IV in Child, Youth, and Family Intervention, or a related qualification.
- A full, unrestricted driver's license (no P plates).
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build trust and meaningful connections with the children and young people you are supporting.
- The ability to mentor and guide children and young people, helping them develop practical life skills and grow their independence.
- Resilience and emotional strength to navigate challenges with empathy and determination.
- A calm and solution-oriented mindset, ensuring you remain composed under pressure.
- Experience in supporting children and young people with complex needs.
To join our team you will be required to complete required clearances including a Medical, National Police Clearance, 395 Check and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Benefits
In addition to making a meaningful difference in people's lives, you'll also have:
Salary packaging: Up to $15,900 per annum + up to $2,650 for meals and entertainment. Salary packaging allows you to pay for your expenses with money from your salary before tax is taken out. Pay less tax, and your take home pay increases.
Career Progression: Be empowered to shape your career path and grow professionally.
Flexibility: Pick up shifts based on your availability.
Training: You'll receive 50+ hours of training focused on equipping you with valuable skills to help support our clients.
