Kitchenhand/Cleaners are crucial to the accomplishment of our organisation's vision, mission, and goals as well as the success of our services. They are responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for all Westcare employees and/or participants living and/or working at all sites operated by Westcare Incorporated.
Kitchenhand/Cleaners perform a broad range of cleaning tasks that vary according to the needs of sites operated by Westcare Incorporated.
General duties that Kitchenhand/Cleaner will attend to, but are not limited to, are:
Clean offices (vacuum, mop, dust, disinfect, empty trash, and replace liners), hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, and other assigned work areas at the direction of the Village Senior Administrator.
Clean in and around office buildings (if requested to assist with cleaning at other Westcare locations).
Carry out deep cleaning within the allotted rostered time.
Replenishing toiletries, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and hand wash.
Receive and organise the stock and report the stock requirements to the Village Senior Administrator.
Operate a floor scrubber and other cleaning and kitchen equipment for day-to-day operations.
Serve meals to residents/guests/participants, reset the dining room, wash, dry, and restock dispensers and trays with fruits, cereals, sugar, utensils, and condiments.
Prepare light breakfast and side dishes to serve with main meals as directed by the Village Senior Administrator. Food Preparation and cooking as per lunch orders.
Ensure proper storage of food and supplies
Monitor and report to the Village Senior Administrator any identified repairs and maintenance required of cleaning/cooking equipment and assigned areas.
Complete required cleaning and meal services or skill development tasks and support documentation.
Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Perform reasonable additional duties as directed by the Village Senior Administrator.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
Completion of SITXFSA005 Food Safety Certificate
SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervisor Certificate completed or willing to attain within three months of employment
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Valid unlimited working rights in Australia
Willingness and a positive and supportive attitude towards working with people with disabilities.
Experienced in cleaning a commercial kitchen, offices, bathrooms and other general cleaning.
Experience in safe food handling, including temperature checks, sandwich preparation, stock rotation and food handling hygiene.
Operating a commercial dishwasher, oven, fryer and meat slicer.
Ability and willingness to follow instructions, directions and feedback.
Proven ability to work unsupervised with sound time management skills.
Follows safe work practices and use equipment and chemicals safely.
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
Ability and willingness to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks.
Willingness to work additional evening shifts as required.
Desirable
Disability sector or aged care experience will be highly regarded.
Emotional resilience and the ability to support individuals who may occasionally be experiencing significant distress, crisis, or mental illness.
Demonstrable knowledge of the principles of social role values, the rights of people with disabilities, consumer rights, the duty of care, the dignity of risk, and the requirements of the National Disability Standards.
