About the role

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst (Information & Data Analytics) to support a large-scale data and analytics program within a government organisation. This role will focus on delivering a modern, secure, cloud-based data platform to support data lifecycle management, analytics, and AI/ML capability.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead business analysis planning, including defining approaches, stakeholder analysis, and work breakdown estimation.
  • Gather, analyse and document requirements using interviews, workshops, surveys, and other elicitation techniques.
  • Conduct data visualisation and reporting for operations using BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Perform data analysis, including working with relational databases and applying statistical techniques.
  • Translate requirements into deliverables for solution teams, including process models, use cases, mock-ups, and wireframes.
  • Develop business cases outlining benefits, risks, and options.
  • Apply Agile methodologies to deliver minimum viable products and iterative solutions.
  • Prepare clear briefing materials and performance reports for key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, service providers, and technical teams.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, governance, and workplace safety standards.

Highly desirable criteria

  • Experience delivering data and analytics projects within large organisations.
  • Hands-on experience in cloud data project delivery.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing principles and ETL processes.
  • Extensive background (7+ years) as a Business Analyst within ICT project delivery teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in Agile environments.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Business Analysis.
  • Relevant BA certifications (e.g. BABOK, CBAP).

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of change management and project management principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and governance frameworks.
  • Previous government or utility industry experience.
  • Exposure to AI/ML use cases within business contexts.
