Serving on the committee is an incredible opportunity to lead and coordinate events and initiatives, develop skills in leadership, communication, and event management, and connect with peers, academics, and industry professionals.

Company Description

The Griffith University Medical Sciences Committee (GUMSC) is a student-led body that represents and connects all allied health and medical science students across various year levels at Griffith University. GUMSC aims to build a vibrant academic and social culture, supporting students' learning through advocacy and creating opportunities for engagement with peers, professionals, and the wider university community. The committee organizes a range of events, from networking nights and academic workshops to wellbeing events and social activities, making the university experience enriching and enjoyable for medical science students. GUMSC is dedicated to fostering an enriching and supportive university environment for all its members.

Role Description

This is a volunteer located on the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. Members of the Executive Committee will be responsible for planning and organizing academic and social events, advocating on behalf of students, and facilitating connections between students, faculty, and professionals. Tasks will include communicating with other committee members, managing event logistics, promoting events and activities, and addressing student concerns and feedback. Executive Committee members will also play a key role in enhancing the educational and social experience for medical science students.

Qualifications/REquirements

  • Current Griffith University student and GUMSC member
  • Event Planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Networking and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in team-based or leadership roles is a plus
  • Passion for enhancing the student experience at Griffith University
