Work Health and Safety Trainer and Assessor
1 week ago
Your training. Your future. Your way.
- Do you have a passion for creating healthy and safer workplaces?
- Want to share your industry expertise with emerging safety professionals?
- Ready for a change of pace?
There's a place for you here at the Trainwest Safety Institute.
As Perth's leading Registered Training Organisation (RTO 51807), we've been delivering quality training and assessment services for more than 15 years. We are looking for an engaging and dynamic facilitator to join our growing team. As an experienced safety professional, you'll find it rewarding to connect with and share your expertise with the next generation of safety leaders.
Join us as a WHS Trainer and Assessor, and lead our mission to engage, motivate and inspire learners across the industry.
Your opportunity
A role as our WHS Trainer and Assessor allows you to pass your knowledge on to others who are as passionate about safety as you are, and inspire them to do safety differently. A true conversational chameleon, you'll be skilled at reading a room and adapting your communication style accordingly - from strategic discussions with executive teams to engaging a classroom of frontline workers.
Here's some of what you'll achieve here:
- You'll confidently deliver and assess a variety of training courses such as risk management, safety leadership, incident investigations and more.
- You'll build strong relationships with our mining industry clients through exceptional on-site training, which may occasionally involve travel
- You'll guide your students through every step of their journey and become a trusted mentor who supports them to succeed
- You'll get constant opportunities to grow your facilitation skills and broaden your expertise, working towards delivering courses such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
What you'll bring
As a WHS Trainer and Assessor, you're a confident and capable facilitator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Here's what else you'll need:
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or an equivalent qualification
- A previous operational role in work health and safety
- Demonstrated experience working within mining and resources
- A current drivers licence and a willingness to travel if required
While not essential, it would also be great if you could bring:
- Knowledge of the VET system in Australia, including the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and Standards for RTOs
- Sound digital literacy, with experience using Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software, Adobe Suite and data projection equipment
- Previous experience working with eLearning systems
- Additional vocational qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, Diploma of Work Health and Safety or RII competencies
More than anything, if you're the right fit for us, you'll be a highly collaborative team player who takes a hands-on, practical approach to learning. You'll bring a positive attitude and plenty of enthusiasm to developing yourself and adapting your approach to deliver the best outcomes for your students and clients.
Why join Trainwest?
At Trainwest, we firmly believe the biggest asset of any business is its people. So, we're passionate about empowering you with the confidence and knowledge you need to succeed and help others succeed, too.
Our people tell us that what surprised them the most about a career here is how much input they have into designing the courses they deliver. We love it when our people lend their unique voices and experiences to our program design, so here, you can really make an impact.
We're also highly passionate about the growth and development of our team so you'll find plenty of opportunities to enhance your skills and shape your future.
You'll be part of a team who are deeply connected and caring. Our culture is one where it's safe to make mistakes and even to fail - there'll always be support and a helping hand if you need it.
Here's what else we think you'll enjoy about working with us:
- When you're not in front of a class, the role is as flexible as it can be, with opportunities to work from home
- Professional development is big for us. We're heavily involved with the Australian Institute of Health and Safety, and all of their courses are available to you, as well as our internal capability framework
- Not to mention the social side Although we're a small team, we love getting together through our social club events and 'hot lunch Fridays'
