About us
Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service (ACMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Primary Health Service. For over 40 years, Durri ACMS has provided essential and culturally appropriate health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people located in Kempsey, Nambucca Heads, and surrounding communities.
Our primary health service site in Kempsey is located on the traditional lands of the Dunghutti people, extending from the eastern extremity of the Mid North Coast to the Northern Tablelands.
Our Nambucca clinic sits in the homeland of the Gumbaynggirr people, with the Nambucca Valley being the southern gateway to subtropical Australia.
Durri services range across a number of both clinical and non-clinical services. From primary health care, chronic disease, dental, women's health, perinatal to postnatal services as well as programs ranging from social emotional wellbeing services being built within an all-encompassing health setting means a comprehensive health approach can be undertaken.
About the role
The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in providing strategic financial leadership with excellent communication across Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service (DACMS). Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and working in close partnership with the Senior Management Team (SMT), this position supports the organisation's long-term growth, financial sustainability, and governance.
The Finance Manager will lead the financial function with a strong focus on compliance, reporting, and strategic planning. This includes providing high-level financial advice to the CEO, SMT, and the Board, including the Finance Sub-Committee. The role is responsible for ensuring all internal and external financial obligations are met to a high standard and within required timeframes.
Key responsibilities include overseeing financial operations, managing risk and compliance, supporting contract and asset management, contribute to submission writing and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders such as government agencies and funding bodies. The Finance Manager will also supervise and guide the finance team, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place to support DACMS's mission and strategic direction.
The Finance Manager will:
1. Work under the instruction of the CEO and in partnership with the Senior Management Team (SMT) to:
Oversee Financial Management of Durri and all its systems, identify any risks and make recommendations for Continuous Quality Improvement.
- Ensure budget allocation against the organisations Action/Business Plan.
- Lead and prepare monthly meetings of the Finance Sub-Committee, CEO, and SMT and present the organisation's finances.
- Accept responsibility for the financial accounting and reporting functions.
- Ensure compliance by the Corporation the legislation, government requirements and Board policy in financial matters.
- Provide relevant information and financial management advice as required to ensure the CEO, EO, SMT and Board of Directors have accurate and reliable financial information for making informed decisions.
2. Provide management and leadership of the Finance team to support the business functions and the achievement of Durri ACMS strategic goals.
- The role is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient processing of accounting data, financial reporting, budget preparation with and is also responsible for overseeing the corporation's payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

- Relevant Qualifications and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in finance or accounting, CPA or CA ANZ accreditation, and at least 5 years' experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation or large not-for-profit/charitable organisation. - Strategic and Operational Leadership
Proven ability to lead strategically while managing operational challenges, with experience contributing to senior management decision-making and organisational planning. - Advanced Financial Management Skills
Expertise in financial operations including taxation, compliance, asset management, procurement, insurance, legal matters, and reporting in complex environments with significant income and contract obligations. - Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Building
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with government, non-government, and statutory bodies such as the ATO. - Technology and Time Management Proficiency
Competence in financial systems such as Xero or MYOB, Microsoft Office suite, and other relevant software, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines. - Compliance and Licensing Requirements
Eligibility to obtain relevant security clearances including a National Police Check and Working with Children clearance, and possession of a current valid Driver Licence (minimum Class "C" or equivalent).
